One can admittedly read digital documents on High-Tech communicating devices (PDA, mobile phones),but comfort is strongly reduced. Character enlarging is impossible due to small screen sizes and makes those devices inappropriate for long-sighted or visually impaired persons (ARMD, Cataract ...). Visual impairments seem to grow with population ageing and then makes more urgent to find solutions.

To reach a more satisfying level of comfort and accessibility, project Hybook aims at conceiving and manufacturing a specially conceived electronic reading device.

It will allow the reading of numerical documents and Internet navigation, in big characters notably. Adapted accessories will enable people deprived of hands use to handle it.
